In MASA Amphitheatre on December 11th, 2019, two new dictionaries, Genetics and Social and Preventive Medicine: Public Health were presented. The two dictionaries are published within the macro project Macedonian Professional and Scientific Terminology implemented by the Lexicographic Centre at the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts.

Academician Vitomir Mitevski, project lead, presented the macro project Macedonian Professional and Scientific Terminology and announced the new dictionaries that are planned in the future.

Mr. Aleksandar Dimovski, PhD, MASA corresponding member, who prepared the dictionary on Genetics, elaborated on the challenges during the process of drafting terminology. He explained that, apart from the standard Macedonian terms, the dictionary includes neologisms used by professionals working in this field, thus contributing to the enriching the lexis of Macedonian language.

Mr. Doncho Donev, PhD, who prepared the dictionary on Social and Preventive Medicine: Public Health, gave chronological overview of the activities related to defining terminology about social and preventive medicine and stressed that this dictionary includes terms from several disciplines because social medicine is a bridge between clinical medicine (medical practice) and other sciences that study the social dimensions of diseases and health.

Mr. Nikolche Mickoski, research associate at the Lexicographic Centre talked about the importance of prompt definition of professional terminology and its accessibility to everyone. He announced the digital edition of the glossaries and dictionaries published within the macro-project as online dictionary.
